Environmental and Water Resources: Milestones in Engineering History contains 18 papers, many of which were presented at the Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) Congress and Fourth National EWRI History Symposium held May 15 19, 2007 in Tampa, Florida. This is the fourth in a series of History and Heritage publications produced from EWRI and ASCE. Unique to this volume are a photo essay of the Hoover Dam taken by Ansel Adams and papers on the remarkable career of James Pugh Kirkwood (1807-1877), waterworks engineer and ASCE leader, on the 200th anniversary of his birth.
